TWO CONCERT HALLS. I posted here about some of Professor Donald Shoup’s conclusions about parking. In the article linked below, James Cameron discusses Shoup’s argument that having parking spaces next to a facility can discourage the use of downtowns because it discourages any walking. Shoup contrasts the new Los Angeles concert hall with lots of parking spaces and the new San Francisco concert hall without parking spaces. In San Francisco, the concertgoers spent time in the neighborhood after a concert; concertgoers in Los Angeles disappear after a concert.
