This wikpedia article informed me about war pigs: “War pigs are pigs reported to have been used in ancient warfare as a countermeasure against war elephants.” The theory was, as reported by Pliny the Elder, that elephants are “scared by the smallest squeal of the hog”. There are also ancient reports of incendiary pigs.
