FATHERS AND CHILDREN TALKING BASEBALL. For my recent birthday, Nick interviewed me about baseball and posted the discussion here on the Catbird Seat blog. It is sometimes said that baseball is fathers playing catch with their children. It is also parents talking baseball with their children. Large parts of my conversations with my brother or with Nick are about baseball. Mary Jane’s telephone conversations with her father in the last years of his life were in large part about baseball.
