NORTHWESTERN VERSUS NOTRE DAME.
NORTHWESTERN VERSUS NOTRE DAME. Northwestern played Notre Dame in football last Saturday for the first time in 19 years. The games have meaning for me in part because the Northwestern/ Notre Dame game of 1948 is one of my earlier memories. It was the second time that I had ever seen a television set. Somebody suggested that my brother Elmer and I should pick out a team to root for, and we picked Northwestern because the Northwestern Railroad went right through our town.
So we were Northwestern fans long before we went there.
