Well, I can certainly picture him, with his white hair, in robes like a magus, as I hear him
intoning these lines. It is absolutely wonderful that we can HEAR the voice of Yeats!
I love much of his poetry, though I do wonder if he didn’t take himself a bit too seriously.
Can’t put his voice up against that of Dylan Thomas. Of course, Thomas was a relatively young man when he died, and his voice in its full vigor, despite the drink. Yeats sounds old, old–as old as an oak.
