THE PROBLEM OF BLOOD (COMMENT). I mentioned that, as a result of a series of events, next weekend I will be playing Julius Caesar in the Darien Players production of JULIUS CAESAR. (A real actor will be playing the role for the last two weekends). Dick Weisfelder immediately asked about Caesar’s death scene. It’s an important question. The play is built around the assassination (some say the play is broken in the middle), and it’s important to stage it effectively. The first thought is lots of blood. But how are costumes and floors to be cleaned? Dick, it will be a good, operatic death scene. In fact, it will be done three times, one of which will use strobe lights and red streamers. But no blood.
