A MUSICIAN PREPARES. I once sat next to a musician in the New York Philharmonic at a dinner party some years ago, and had a long talk. He said that one way in his job differed from mine as a lawyer was that most days he would begin in the middle of the afternoon to mentally and emotionally prepare for the performance he was going to be part of that evening.
