The Wall Street Journal (December 17) had an article about Marko Costanzo, a noted foley artist (sound effects expert). Some of his effects are low tech. He uses celery to simulate breaking bones. And, just as in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, coconut shells are used to simulate the sound of horses galloping. However, they are stuffed with cloth or rocks to create a thud.
