ANSWER TO THE SALACIOUS LITERARY TRIVIA QUESTION. I posed a salacious literary question here on August 15.
I asked Mary Jane the question (What writer wrote to her husband as follows?:…the Mandril [her husband's pet name for her] “wishes me to inform you delicately that her flanks and rump are now in finest plumage, and invites you to an exhibition.”).
Mary Jane started out: “Well, I know it’s not Virginia Woolf….and I interrupted and said: “Bingo.”
In talking about it afterward, Mary Jane said that she couldn’t imagine Virginia Woolf saying anything flirtatious. I said that I had not been able to imagine Virginia Woolf being fanciful.
